track2In a busy week, the Lansing track & field teams were represented at several meets, traveling twice to Trumansburg and sending a group of vaulters to Hilton High School.

Emily Gallagher, Meghan Matheny, and Gwen Gisler continued their very successful season at the Runnin' Cadet Classic Saturday Night Showdown, an event featuring top pole vaulters in the area.  Gallagher secured second place with a vault of 11'6" while Gisler and Matheny both cleared 10' to claim seventh and eighth place, respectively, in an exciting competition under the lights at Hilton High School.

The girls team claimed third place overall at the Legends of the Night Invitational on Friday behind Elmira Notre Dame and the girls of the hosting team, Trumansburg.  Catie Eisenhut led from the gun once again and won the 1500M run, running a new personal best that she would lower again in an unscored meet the following Monday.  Hurdlers Emma Dhimitri and Liz Barre placed well for the Bobcats with Dhimitri running to second in a closely contested 400M hurdle race. In the 100M hurdles, Dhimitri secured third place while  Barre ran to a personal best and fifth place finish.  Both girls also triple jumped along with teammate Mikaela Garcia; Dhimitri had a big personal best and took third place while Garcia tied her personal best for fifth place (and Barre would then hit a personal best mark in the event on Monday's unscored meet).

Also scoring for Lansing was Destiny Little who leaped to second place in the high jump, tying the winning height of 4'10".  Sprinters Miya Kuramoto and Michelle Schafer also stood on the podium in the 200M dash placing third and sixth, respectively.  Kuramoto took sixth position in the 100M dash as well.  Joining her teammates in setting new personal records, Leigh Miller ran to sixth place in the 3000 to score for Lansing.  The girls 1600M relay team of Garcia, Eisenhut, Sam Mauser, and Dhimitri ran to a second place finish to close out the night on the awards stand.

The boys team took ninth place out of nineteen teams.  The team started their evening with a strong performance from the 400M relay team of Tyler Ayers, Xavier Gell, James Blair, and Dakota Edwards who made it through semi-finals to place fourth overall in the finals at the meet's end.  Also standing on the awards stand in fourth place was the 1600M relay team of Jason Littlefair, Jacob Lange, Devin McCartney, and Nate Fleishman.

Joey Miller-Labar had a big night in the vertical jumps, placing fourth and tying personal bests in both the high jump and pole vault.  He was joined on the pole vault podium by teammate Gell who took sixth place.  Thrower Alex Powers continued a season of scoring points for the Bobcats, throwing a personal best of 110'2" in the discus for fifth place and also taking second place in the shot put.
