The NYSPHSAA State Championships were held at Cicero North Syracuse High School on June 10-11.  Lansing High School sent two representatives, juniors Emily Gallagher and Emma Dhimitri, both of whom competed at the championship last year and looked to end their very successful seasons with one more stand atop the podium.

Gallagher entered as top seed and secured the title of state champion in the girls division 2 pole vault with her first vault of the meet.  She went on to clear 11'9", earning her fourth place within federation scoring.  This state title caps off an incredible season for Gallagher: she won all but two of the meets in which she competed -- and she was runner-up at those.  She also set a new school record with her 12' vault at State Qualifiers, breaking her own record set the previous year.

For the first time all season, Dhimitri arrived at a meet and only had to prepare for one event.  She was awarded the team's MVP award earlier in the week for a season in which she competed in four events at every meet, scoring in all of them almost every time.  Her sole focus was on the 400M hurdles for this championship meet, and Dhimitri stood on the awards stand once again, securing a division 2 fifth place finish.
