tennisThe Lansing tennis team brought it's six participants into the West Sectionals at Southern Cayuga with the hope of advancing to the East/West playoff and bringing back the Sectionals title. With no team title competed for in NY State High School Tennis the Sectionals title is the crowning achievement for any tennis team in NY State.

In addition to the Sectionals crown players individual seasons are at stake as they either move on to the East/West playoffs in the single elimination tournament or their season comes to an abrupt end. Each team is allowed four entrants- two singles players and two doubles teams.

For the 2016 season Lansing entered Zoli Csaki and Nick Parkes in the singles bracket and entered Max Avramis.Chris Robinson along with Ryan and Ethan Buchanan in the doubles bracket. Only the finalists move on to the East/West playoff.

Top seeded Zoli Csaki cruised through his side of the draw in singles to move forward while Nick Parkes playing some of his best tennis of the year rolled past the number 2 and 3 seeded players to move on to the playoffs.

In doubles Avramis/Robinson also moved through the draw in straight sets to move forward. The Buchanan brothers found themselves in a long battle in their final match that took the course of two days to complete. They finally claimed victory winning in a third set tiebreaker after coming back from 5-3 down in the set.

All six Lansing players advanced giving the Bobcats an excellent chance to win the Sectionals title as they moved forward to the East/West playoffs to be held at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
