The Lansing Bobcat Track & Field team wrapped up the 2014 outdoor season with four D2 podium finishes at the state championships meet in Cicero North Syracuse on Friday June 6 and Saturday June 7.

The pole vaulters, coached by Matt Scheffler (Groton '99) had three podium finishers.  Dylan Bland won the state championship with a vault of 14 feet.  Max Jordan finished 4th, also clearing 14 feet, but with more attempts needed.  Hayley Wigsten placed 4th in the girls pole vault with a vault of 10 ft 6 inches.   Bland also finished 7th in the Federation competition.

Ben Rourke finished 3rd in the pentathlon ( high jump, long jump, 110M hurdles, shot put, and 1500 meter run). Rourke was coached by Doug Smith (Groton '82), with the assistance of throwing coach Andy Lockwood ( Lansing '07) and head girls coach Rusty Landon ( Lansing '07).

Also competing was Anders Presthus in the shot put and discus, coached by Andy Lockwood.

The 2014 outdoor team had 20 girls and 13 boys competing throughout the season.

The three seniors attending the state meet plan to continue with athletics in college.  Rourke will attend SUNY Cortland and play football.   Presthus will attend Alfred University and play football.  Bland will attend Ithaca College and continue to pole vault.
