BATAVIA - Philip A. Penepent Sr., age 85 of Batavia, died Friday evening (August 22, 2008) while under Hospice care. Mr. Penepent is the son of the late Anthony and Mary Panepinto Penepent. His wife, Concetta F. DeFazio Penepent, of 55 years, died on August 19, 2002.

Mr. Penepent was the former Supervisor of the Town of Batavia and a member of the Assessment Board of Review for several years. Since the age of 16, he worked his entire life in the concrete business and until two years ago was the owner and operator of Phil Penepent Construction Company. He served in the Army during WWII; a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus; a member of the Batavia Sertoma Club; and a member of St. Joseph's Church in Batavia.

Survivors include his sons, David (Susan) Penepent, manager of Herson Funeral Home in Ithaca; Dr. Philip (Paula) Penepent Jr. and Michael (Virginia) Penepent; a daughter, Mary Ann (Edward) Drabczyk; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Althea) Penepent.

Friends and family may call Sunday (August 31, 2008) from 2 p.m. until time of a 4 p.m. Memorial Service at the Herson Funeral Home. The service will be followed by a birthday gathering celebrating Mr. Penepent's 86th years of life. Mr. Penepent was entombed in St. Joseph Mausoleum If desired, memorials may be made to the Sunrise Rotary Club Uganda Water Project, 110 S. Geneva St., Ithaca, or to any Hospice agency.
