ImageBarbara Partridge Dyer, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2009.  Barbara was born in Somerville, MA on February 7, 1920.  She was the daughter of Ashley W. and Jennie Maud Partridge.

Barbara grew up in Lexington, MA, where she enjoyed visiting her father’s ice cream stand and playing the violin in the high school orchestra.  In her childhood she spent time in Blue Hill with family, sailing on the Vagabond, and enjoying relaxing times on the beach and rocks.  She married Vernelle “Cappy” Dyer on October 17, 1950.  Together they raised a family in an old farmhouse in Yarmouth.

Always providing for her family in every imaginable way, Barbara gave up her career to devote her full energy to her three children.  Family memories include summer trips to Milbridge to rake blueberries on the family blueberry fields.  Barbara could always be depended upon to cook delicious dinners, bake her famous blueberry pies, and do whatever she could to support the family.  She was a quiet person who loved music, flowers and traveling.  She was always so interested in the world around her.

Every day was a new opportunity to learn and enjoy.  Barbara had a quiet strength about her that influenced everyone around her.  Her extraordinary quality of selfless giving, never complaining and always centering her life on her family is a legacy that she leaves for all who loved her so much.

She leaves her devoted husband of fifty-six years, Cappy, her three children Dee Lynne and her husband, Bob of Vienna, ME, Bruce and his wife, Pam of Westbrook, ME, and Donna and her husband, Rick of Ithaca, NY.   Her grandchildren are Matthew, Nathaniel, Christopher, Caroline and Victoria.
