The Lansing varsity football team opened the 2006 season with a 49-0 victory over Groton. Lansing opened the scoring in the first quarter with a Vincent Redmond 1 yard QB sneak to cap an 11 play 8 minute opening drive. Midway through the 2nd quarter Ryan Shaff picked up a Groton fumble, forced by Adam Nedrow, and scampered 23 yards for the second score of the evening.

Two minutes later Trevor Countryman scored on a 49 yard run and added another touchdown a little over a minute later, with a 33 yard pass interception to finish the scoring for the first half. Groton controlled the ball for much of the third quarter, but Lansing got on the board with a 5 yard touchdown run from Ryan Earl. Rusty Landon collected two touchdown runs in the forth quarter, 29 & 43 yard runs to finish the scoring. In addition Rusty connected on 5 of 6 PAT kicks, while Vincent Redmond hooked up with Kyle Sweazey for a 2 point conversion following Trevor Countryman's first score.
The defense played outstanding the entire night giving up only 92 yards on the ground, in addition to the 2 scores. The offensive line was also a bright spot, the group of Brent Stll, TJ French, Jon Bradford, Charlie Hatfield, Andrew Lockwood, and TE Brian Milliman consistently opened holes for the running backs.
