cow1The New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) and the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council (ADADC) will be conducting a training workshop this month to help owners of dairy farms learn how to host a successful farm tour.  The four-hour long seminar will cover all aspects of farm tours from setting the date to messaging and parking cars.  The workshop is free, includes lunch, and is scheduled for Friday, March 28 from 10:30am – 2:30pm at the Springside Inn at 6141 W. Lake Road in Auburn.  Reservations are required.

“Transparency is key in building trust with the public about our modern dairy farms,” said Jessica Ziehm, Executive Director of NYAAC, “One of the best ways to achieve that is to invite the public onto our farms to see for themselves how we care for our animals and the land.  This workshop will give farmers the knowledge, resources and confidence to organize an event or tour on their own farm, helping bridge the gap between farmer and consumer.”

“It’s extremely encouraging that the President has chosen to highlight a main initiative in our office as a game-changer for manufacturing in America,” Reed said. “The next generation of innovation is right here at home and we’re ready to get it off the ground. The President’s announcement that he will work with Congress to get the bill passed and signed into law is great news for manufacturers looking to ‘make it here and sell it there’ and for training the next generation of high-tech manufacturers.”

“There’s no better way to get a feel for the manufacturing climate than to be meeting with employees and taking the economic temperature here on the ground,” Congressman Reed said of his visit. “CUTCO is a great example of American manufacturers ‘making it here and selling it there’ and the more we know about their success and the barriers they do face, the better off Congress is at creating an environment conducive to job growth.”

posticon Big Win For Local Steel Manufacturers

Print Print

International Trade Commission decision helps advance domestic manufacturing; district company Nucor to benefit Congressman Tom Reed Tuesday announced a big win for local steel manufacturers: the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) will maintain the trade remedy on hot-rolled steel from China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Ukraine. As a result, U.S. steel manufacturers, including Nucor Vulcraft in Chemung, will benefit from ITC protections against unfairly-traded imports.

“This is a big win for the entire United States steel industry and the jobs and industries it supports,” Congressman Reed said. “The success of our local steel manufacturers depends on our ability to create a level playing field for them. Unfair competition dumped into our U.S. market would surely mean less investment and growth from our U.S. manufacturers and I am thrilled we are taking steps to prevent that unfair activity. Today’s news is a positive for steel manufacturers, particularly district manufacturer Nucor Vulcraft in Chemung, as they will be able to continue their work to strengthen our economy.”
