The 2009 version of the Lansing Lady Cats Girls Varsity Soccer Team has seamlessly moved to a new era. Gone are former All-State and 5-year varsity players Megan and Rachael Palladino. What remains are 14 three-time defending Conference and Section winning champions. Add to the mix two brand new varsity players and what you have is a hungry, experienced, driven and committed team of footballers. The ladies are up to their stone-cold defending and mesmerizing attacking best as they have raced to a 4-0 record in league play. The team in wins over Union Springs, Southern Cayuga, Groton and Trumansburg has amassed 46 goals and surrendered one. Early season fireworks to say the least as the ladies once again find themselves on the allusive quest to be the best. Lets meet the squad.




The Bobcats suffered a tough loss versus Waverly last Friday night losing 34-6 to the Waverly Wolverines. Running back Kevin Gorman rolled up 273 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns to lead Waverly's ground assault. The Bobcats had few answers offensively or defensively, scoring their lone touchdown on a long pass from T.J. Cretney to Craig Esposito.
ITHACA, NY—The Ithaca SufferJets fought hard for the fourth win of five games so far this season on Saturday night at Cass Park Rink. The final deciding point was earned in the last seconds of the game when SufferJets Pivot, Cam Arrow, lent a classic arm whip to jammer Sarabellum, pulling her though the pack for a win of 131 to 130.
The Lansing Cross team headed south to Candor for their first meet of the season and they made sure the trip was worth it. Both the boys and girls varsity teams won. The other teams participating in the meet were Candor, Tioga, Spencer VanEtten, and Groton. Senior Jon Cleveland bested his last year’s time by 28 seconds to place first with a time 18:15, while senior Josh Barber placed 3rd with a time of 19:12. The girls took 3 of the top 4 slots. 
Trumansburg and Lansing's varsity football teams have always been worthy rivals. But when they clash at this year's game there will be more at stake in the first annual Battle For The Paddle. The winner of the September 18th game at Trumansburg's Tarbell Field will get to display the brand new custom-made paddle and will have bragging rights for a year until next year's game.
Lansing dominated its first game of the season, 25-9, after solid serving by seniors Kristen Beyea and Nicolo Gentile reversed an early Moravia lead on September 3rd. The Bobcats’ decisive five- and 11-point runs were punctuated by the first three of junior Tara Miller’s four kills.
The Lansing Bobcats got off to a good start with a win over the always tough Candor Indians last Friday night, scoring a 16-14 Victory. The Bobcats jumped out to a 16-0 lead after fumbling the opening kickoff and threatened to go up by another touchdown before the half when J.D. McKane picked off a pass and returned it deep into Candor territory. Unfortunately the Bobcats were unable to capitalize and turned the ball over on downs. 
The Boys and Girls Lansing Cross Country Teams season kicked off with a fundraiser and first time 5K event at the Lansing Harbor Festival on August 15th. Josh Barber (18:22) Kathryn Shaw (21:19) and Casey Phlegar (26:20) did well despite the heat and humidity.
62 runners participated in the Light House 5K Run Saturday at the third annual Lansing Harbor Festival. This was the first year for the race, and organizers were pleased with the turnout. Runners gathered at the race pavilion in the entrance to the town marina, signing in while others participated in a 'fun run.'
The Lansing U12 Blue baseball team enjoyed a successful season, winning 11 of their 16 games. The coaching staff, headed by James Strait, employed a strategy focused on player development that gave all fourteen players an opportunity to play the infield, outfield, and to pitch.
