The Lansing Girls Basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 67-20 win at Dryden on Tuesday. Jocelyn Ford led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points in addition to a team high 8 rebounds. The Ladycats received outstanding play from their reserves as Stephanie Gonyea and freshman Colby McCartney each contributed 13 points, with 3 of Gonyea's points coming on a half court buzzer beater to end the third quarter.Rachael Palladino added 8 points along with 11 steals and 3 assists, while Megan Palladino chipped in with 6 points and MC Barrett added 5. The Ladycats once again played solid defense limiting the Lions to 4 first half points, while exploding for 27 second quarter points leading to a 38-4 halftime score. The Ladycats' next game is Friday at home against Division I rival Elmira Notre Dame.

The Lansing Varsity Bowling teams went to Watkins Glen last week for their second match of the season and the girls took all 4 points. Kristi Sullivan provided the firepower starting with a 231 first game to finish with a 580 series. Mary Bacorn, Brooke Burke and Katy Bland provided all of needed backup as Lansing totaled 2236 to Watkins’s 1834 total pins.
The annual Ithaca Shooting Stars Invitational Tournament concluded Sunday with four championship games played at The RINK after 36 round robin, crossover and consolation games. Three age levels were won by teams from Canada-- Ancaster Avalanche at 12U over the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles,4-3; Nepean Wildcats at 16U over the Colorado Selects,5-2; and Etobicoke Dolphins at 19U over Ithaca, 4-1. The 14U championship was a battle between neighbor teams, Amherst Knights and Buffalo Regals with Amherst victorious 4-0.
The Lansing Bobcat football team ended their season on a high note defeating the Southern Springs football team 13-0. The team was led by Brad Bartlett's 100 yards rushing on only ten carries. Bartlett also caught one pass for ten yards and had eleven tackles earning him player of the game honors. The Bobcats finished with a 4-5 record this year.
Section 4 finished 3rd with a point total of 257.00 pts at the State Championships.
As a coach, I could not have asked for a better group of athletes to work with. Not only was I able to improve my own running through our daily workouts as a team, I was able to see the progress of thirteen athletes throughout the 2008 fall season. Juniors Josh Barber and Jon Cleveland led the team in scoring at each meet but could not have done that without the support of the rest of the team.
Lansing Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee Chairman Marty Christopher announced the 2008 inductees who will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame at a January 31 ceremony. Christopher says the committee is breaking from tradition this year by inducting three football teams. "We are inducting the untied, undefeated teams coached by deceased Hall of Fame Coach Stan Sobus from 1956, 1957, & 1958," says Christopher. "They combined to win eighteen consecutive games over the three seasons, each sporting 6 & 0 records."
