That all changed, Thursday and Friday at the IAC Track and Field Championships, held at Dryden HS in which it proved individual talent can always beat "numbers" in this sport (referring to teams with a large amount of kids).

Lansing finished the tennis season with a 7-3 record, second place at IAC tournament and 5th at sectionals. The team had tough competition at sectionals and didn't play their best tennis, but it was another successful year.

The Varsity Golf team finished off its regular season on May 14th with a win over Waverly at Sheppard Hills Golf Course. Sophomore Craig Esposito led the way with a 36 on the par 37 course layout. Other scores from this match included: Conor Stanhope 48, Josh Randall 55, Tim Carlson 60, and Justin Kirkwood 63. Team totals for the match were Lansing 262 and Waverly 273. Lansing finished the regular season with a record of 9-5.

Cortland, NY - The Cortland community will host the 2008 New York State West State Cup Final Four Soccer Championships next month, an event that over three days will bring in more than 60 teams and pump an estimated $500,000 into the local economy. Sponsored by the Cortland Regional Sports Council in partnership with the Cortland County Youth Soccer Association, the tournament is set for May 30-June1. Teams from Buffalo to Rochester, Corning, and Syracuse will be participating in eight age brackets. New York West has committed to Cortland for next year's event, as well.

Last Friday Lansing had a tough loss to Trumansburg. The team was up until the bottom of the 7th when they had a base hit to win the game.

The Lansing varsity baseball team has had a very successful season to date. They stand at 17-3 overall and will play Waverly Saturday for the IAC Divsion I champioship. The team has shown a balanced attack this season receiving quality pitching performances consistently and timely hitting.

The chance to compete against top notch competition came early this year for Lansing Boys and Girls track and field teams at the always competitive Ithaca Relays.

In what has been an up and down past few weeks for Lansing Track and Field, a stellar performance was soon to happen to regain some confidence. They got just that, Friday night at the “Legends of the Night” Invitational, hosted by Odessa-Montour High School.

Coming into the May 6th the dual meet vs. Elmira Notre Dame we knew our girls were going to have a tough meet on their hands. Our depth in the middle distance and distance program is what carried us to victory today. Senior Ryann Cretney was a triple winner in the 1500m, 800m and 3000m. She ran her races from more of a workout perspective than a race perspective today in a final tune-up for the Ithaca Relay’s this Friday.

Junior’s Jeff Swayze and Matt Hartz had solid days in the field for Lansing HS this past Saturday at the Waverly Invitational, held Saturday, April 26th, at Waverly High School.

Lansing played very well on Tuesday in cold, windy conditions to beat TAE 6-1. Cody Church (TAE) defeated Dan Zarate 7-5,5-7,6-4; Tyler Engels (L) def. Brian Donahue 6-3,6-2; Jesse Ingall (L) defeated Nate Pollack 6-2,6-2; Jonathon Sun(L) defeated Claire Schlickbernd 6-4,6-0.
