The Hall of Fame is located behind the Lansing High School gymnasium.  Plaques mounted on the wall commemorate Lansing's great past athletes with pictures taken at the time they played and a synopsis of their achievements.  This year Geoff Wright will be back as Master of Ceremonies to host the event.

Jake Sandgren
Lansing Boy's Varsity senior All-American swimmer, Jake Sangren, set a new Section IV record in the 100 backstroke at Lansing's pool on January 15, 2008.  His new time of 52.14 gives him the following records:  Section IV record, IAC League record, Lansing school record, and Lansing pool record.   The record fell during Jake's last home swim meet of his career as a Lansing swimmer.  The previous Section IV 100 backstroke record time of 53.02 was set in 1994 by Chris Severson of Chenango Forks.  Jake also took first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:02.83.  He was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team.

"What's really neat is that we now have 3 (of 11 swimming events) Section IV records as a team.  Adding Jake's backstroke to the 200 medley relay and Hans Roser's 100 breaststroke is pretty cool. All of the other records are held by the big schools.  It's nice to look through there and see Lansing among the greats from Horseheads and Ithaca."

ImageOn January 3, 2008, the Lansing Boys' Varsity Swim Team recorded another win by defeating Waverly, 102-82. Jake Sangren (All-American Senior) posted a new Lansing pool record of 1:01.37 in the 100 breaststroke; this was a state qualifying time. Jake has now qualified for the state meet in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke. He also placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.05 and was part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams.

When asked about this win, Coach Brian Vaughan stated, "The team practiced consistently over the holiday break and it showed." Assistant Coach Reed Dewey said that he thought the team swam well, especially Clement Towner and Casey Hagin. He also felt that Jake Sangren did well in his individual events, especially after swimming in both "on the heels of a relay swim." The pool record in the 100 breaststroke was set by Hans Roser in 2007 with a time of 1:01.78. Coach Dewey added that, as much as he loves Hans Roser, it was good to see Jake take down his pool record in the event. He stated, "rivaling Hans in the 100 Breaststroke is quite a feat, considering Hans is the Section IV record holder."
