There's nothing small fry about Schoellkopf Field, or at least not most of the time. But two Sunday morning games pitted Lansing's Small Fry football teams against the South Senaca Falcons. With Luke Kutler announcing and Tom Policay working the clock, families cheering from the stands on both sides, the young players were especially excited. "They're playing on turf," says Steve Lehr, one of the senior team coaches. "So there's a professional level of excitement. You look around here and you've got 20,000-worth of stadium seating and you know your family is up there cheering you on. It gives the kids a real sense of pride that makes it worthwhile."

Lansing's Varsity Girls Swimming and Diving Team had two victories this week at the EFA Swimming & Diving Invitational Meet in Elmira, and in a regular meet where they were pitted against Odessa Montour. In its fourth year, the Lansing Family Triathlon was slightly down in participation, but just as high as ever in spirit and community support. Though thunder storms threatened, they held off until the triathlon was finished. About 70 athletes, half of them kids, participated in the event this year. "What's new this year is that we opened the youth division up to families," says Physical Education Teacher Lisa LiVigne. "Adults can compete at the youth distance. They might feel more comfortable doing that distance than the adult distance. It allows them to compete along with their kids. They're not eligible for an award in that division."
Lansing's Varsity Football team scored a massive win in the first game of the season last Friday, beating Newark Valley 35 to nothing. Senior Brian Milliman scored three touchdowns, 2 on the ground, with a one-yard run and a five-yard run.
