Polley McClure, president of the SPCA of Tompkins County’s board of directors, has announced that Jim Bouderau has been named as the new executive director. His will begin his new job with the SPCA on May 16.

“It was a unanimous decision on the part of the search committee and the board of directors to hire Jim,” McClure said. “We were looking for a candidate with leadership in revenue generation and fiscal management, operations management, community relationship building and a dedication to our No-Kill mission. Jim has all of this and more.” The search committee had a pool of over 60 candidates for the job and spent more than two months reviewing resumes, conducting telephone interviews and meeting with finalists.

McClure adds:  ”I am equally pleased to report that Pam Stonebraker, who has served the shelter in many capacities in her 22-year tenure, will continue as interim executive director until May 15, and after that will play an important continuing leadership role.   With Bouderau's community connections, fundraising, and management expertise and Stonebraker's experience with animal welfare and local agency operations, we have a winning team at the helm."

For the last six years, Bouderau has served as general manager for the Hilton Garden Inn  in downtown Ithaca, where he has been responsible for management and operations of very successful hotel and office complex. He is a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and serves on the Kitchen Theater Company’s board of directors. He was a member of the “Kitchen Cabinet” which just completed a very successful capital campaign for a new theater on the city’s west end. In 2010, Bouderau began a term on the SPCA’s board of directors

Bouderau says: “I am absolutely thrilled that the SPCA community has put its faith in me as the new executive director. This is a very special place and I look forward to helping the shelter continue and enhance its work, especially as we celebrate 10 years of being a No-Kill shelter. I am committed to helping to make the SPCA financially strong and sustainable.”

The SPCA is planning an open house later this spring for the public to meet Bouderau and to kickoff a year of celebrations for the 10th anniversary of being an open admission, No-Kill shelter.
