Jake Sangren, All-American swimmer for Lansing, has decided to join the UB Bulls' swimming and diving program.  The University of Buffalo athletics news has the following information listed on its web site.

"Buffalo, NY – University at Buffalo swimming and diving coach, Andy Bashor, has announced the addition of 14 student-athletes to the swimming and diving program. Four women and 10 men representing six different states are set to join the Bulls for the upcoming season.

"We are extremely happy about this year's recruiting class and the different areas of the country we were able to recruit. It is one of the best and deepest recruiting classes that have entered UB. We have men and women that will make an immediate impact on our team and in the conference," says Coach Bashor. "I believe the theme of this class is potential. Many have the ability to become top level swimmers and divers in the conference and eventually on the national level. This is a great start to building a brighter future for UB Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving."

Jake Sangren (Ithaca, NY/Lansing) is a senior national qualifier who swims for Lansing High School and LCAT. He is the New York State runner up in the 100 backstroke and finished fifth in the 200 individual medley. Jake also placed third in the 50 backstroke at the 2008 Junior National Championships.

"We are extremely excited that Jake is coming to Buffalo. His versatility will show in season as he will be called upon to swim a variety of events during the dual meet season," Bashor said. "His 100 backstroke time of 49.91 is already faster than the school record. He will strengthen an already impressive backstroke group and will provide many options for the medley relays."

Jake Sangren will join another Lansing All-American swimmer, Sterling Gell, who is a sophomore freestyler on the UB swim team.  Gell was a member of the 2007 Lansing medley relay team (3rd place at the state meet) and was the freestyle leg of this team.
