mailmanResponse to Barbara Lifton’s Viewpoint on 7/17/15 Ithaca Journal:

There She Goes Again!!

Barbara Lifton has proven yet again that she is completely and totally out of touch with her district. She wrote in her Guest Viewpoint that there is good news for the employees of the Lansing Power Plant and their families. She wrote, "Happily, I can report that language was included in our end-of-session agreement acknowledging the need for such support to communities, as an allocation of $19 million for a current situation on Long Island."

Once again Mrs. Lifton is representing downstate; not Tompkins and Cortland County. She seems to think that promising the employees of the Lansing Power Plant some possible future money and training will make up for taking their jobs away. It doesn't. It's not enough.

Career politicians like Lifton do not understand the pride and security regular people have in their jobs. Mrs. Lifton is paid over $100,000 a year - three times higher than the average worker in the 125th Assembly! Recently she complained that she needs a raise while sending others to the unemployment lines. She wants to raise taxes which reduces spendable income for New Yorkers and complaining she needs a raise.

Perhaps we should take her job away and give her some money and training for her future.

Mrs. Lifton is not fighting for the people of the 125th Assembly. She has a history of doing what she is told to do from the power brokers in Albany and downstate. We desperately need real leadership to represent our community in the Assembly. We need representation to stand up and fight the power brokers and save our jobs while reducing taxes and making New York State great again.

Promising future training and money to the people she is putting out of work is an insult to the intelligence of every person in New York State. Today she wants the jobs of the Power Plant. Watch out for tomorrow when the power brokers tell her to go after your job.

Perhaps we should take her job away and make some promises to her next year when she is up for reelection.
