postheadericon Lansing Wrestlers Defeat Odessa Montour

wrestlingLansing's Wrestling team honored it's seniors last Thursday the 26th, Beating the Odessa Montour Indians 54-18. Seniors, JD McKane, Dakota White, Ryan Todd, and Corey Dake were all recognized for their years of Dedication. Both Ryan, and Corey each are concluding their 5th year, as both wrestled as 8th graders.

Dakota White, currently ranked 3rd in section 4, registered a 1st period pin in his match. Corey Dake, ranked 1st in section4, 2nd in New York State, also pinned his opponent. JD, and Ryan were unavailable for the match. A Lansing crowd turned out for the meet. The team has a great following.

The wrestlers travelled back to Watkins Glen last Saturday for the IAC league tournament. William Lewis continues to improve placing 6th, at 106 pounds. Greg Lee also wrestling at 106, beat Waverly's Kacee Madigan for 3rd place. Dakota White continued his fine season with a 2nd place finish, losing only to Newark Valley's Travis Philip's at 195.

William Koll, ranked #1 in section 4, 4th in New York State, rolled to his 2nd league title, pinning all three of his opponents. Connor Lapresi, ranked 1st in section4, continued his dominance with his 2nd league title,beating Newark Valley's Vinny Darpino with a 14-0 major decision . Finally, Corey Dake, won his 4th consecutive IAC Title, defeating Marathon's Tyler Hall with a 9-0 major decision.

The league coaches voted Corey the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the lightweights. Lansing finished 5th in the team standings. Had Ryan Todd been available, Lansing would probably have been in the top 3.

Lansing is Hosting the Class "C" section 4  Qualifier  tournament this Saturday 2/4/12. Wrestling starts at 10:00 am. Stop by for some great wrestling action, and some of Dave Hatfield's Chicken Barbecue.
