On June 1, 2006 the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic enforcement detail resulting in the following traffic summons being issued:

26-Speeding Violations (School Zones)

1-Speeding Violation/45mph zone

6-Cellular Telephone Violations

3-Seat Belt Violations

8-Expired Inspection Violations

3-Failure to Signal/Turn Violations

1-Unsafe Passing

1-Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

1-Unlicensed Operation

The following locations were utilized for the traffic enforcement detail:

Dryden Central School, Route 38 (School Zone)

Caroline School, Slaterville Road (School Zone)

Lansing Central School, Route 34-B (School Zone)

Enfield School, Route 327 (School Zone)

Ithaca City School District, Lake Street (School Zone)

Traffic Check Point, NYS Route 13 @ Sandbank Road, Town of Ithaca

This is the second of several traffic enforcement details scheduled for the summer months.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office will continue its effort to enforce laws including DWI, speeding, cellular telephone usage, aggressive driving and seat belt usage in an effort to make the highways in Tompkins County safer.
