On Sunday August 21,All Saints Church in Lansing had their annual festival. The festival is traditionally held on the third Sunday in August.  This year's festival was chaired by Tony and Julie Eisenhut and Anne Drake and as always they did a wonderful job coordinating  the activities and ensuring a smooth operation.  At some point in the planning stages it always looks like it is going to be hard to pull off the festival.  Even though people don't always sign up people always step up to help.

Volunteers were there on Saturday and early Sunday to help set up the tents and booths and cook the chicken.  By mid morning there was a wonderful smell of barbecued chicken wafting across the grounds.  The festival began at noon and lasted until 6.  Festival-goers enjoyed the chicken, salt potatoes, coleslaw dinner and cookie dinner. There was also a White Elephant Sale where people found treasures of all kinds at great prices.

In the late afternoon people stuffed their bags full of additional treasures when the prices dropped to a dollar. Other activities included the raffle, cake wheel, dime pitch, silent auction and kids games. At the dime pitch kids have an opportunity to win all kinds of glassware which is often returned by next year by the adults. The kid games are set up to be user friendly so that kids can earn lots of little prizes. This year there were more than a hundred beautiful cakes and pies donated by the wonderful bakers in town.  Sue Hranek would like to thank all the bakers for their great work . The ipod raffle was won by Linda Pasto, and the money raffle by Dave Lippert.

The festival is an event looked forward to by many people.  It is a chance to see many friends and meet new people.  The festival is run by volunteers.  Some have given of their time and talents for more than thirty years.  Others are brand new people and this is their first involvement in the festival but most agree that their involvement in the festival is fun.  It is a great time for all ages and for many families an important tradition.  It is a wonderful example of the good things in a small town.
