Susan Rosenkoetter has been busy for several months working on the 2005 Summer Reading Program.  The theme this year is "Tune In @ Your Library."  The program is made possible with Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to The New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Children signing up for this program are encouraged to read over the summer. Children reading a certain number of books will receive a certificate and prizes at the end of the summer.  Sign-ups will start in June.

Susan has also made plans for three entertainment programs relating to the 2005 Summer Reading Program.  These programs are free and open to the public and are made possible with public funds from the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County/NYS Council on the Arts Decentralization Program and an anonymous Lansing donor.

The kick-off program with Jan Nigro will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 10 a.m. in the new Town Hall.   He will be presenting a musical program involving 3rd graders from the Lansing Elementary School.

A mid-way entertainment program by Tom & Cindy will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 10 a.m. also in the new Town Hall.  Their program relives the days of vaudeville designed to entertain the entire family.  Songs, routines, magic, ventriloquism.....all the glitter and hoopla of a real vaudeville stage show.

The season ending celebration will feature Tom Knight Puppets on Saturday, August 20th at 10 a.m. in the new Town Hall.  His program is a collection of songs and skits for children of all ages - about animals, the environment, food and books.  Favorites include "Alligator Jump," "The Garbage Monster," and Henry the Magician, plus songs from Tom's new CD "The Classroom Boogie!"

Everyone is encouraged to mark these dates on their calendars and come to these free  programs as part of the 2005 Summer Reading Program.
