nozzoliolibrary120In recognition of his continuing efforts to preserve the important programs and services provided by local libraries, State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been named a “Top Supporter” by New Yorkers for Better Libraries in their annual voter’s guide.  Senator Nozzolio received an “A” grade from the statewide organization of library leaders for his support of legislation to improve public library systems and his efforts to restore critical library funding in the 2012 State Budget.

“Throughout my service in the State Senate, I have been a strong supporter of our local libraries.  Public libraries are our window to the world, providing programs and services on a wide array of topics to children, adults, and senior citizens, as well as important information on searching for jobs, preparing for job interviews, and developing resumes,” said Nozzolio.

Kim Iraci, Executive Director of the Finger Lakes Library System said, “Senator Nozzolio has been a tireless advocate for our local libraries and those they serve.  His support has been critical to the success of the Finger Lakes Library System.  Senator Nozzolio has been a leader in the fight to restore library funding and has worked tirelessly to provide our community with access to books and resources.”

“There is no greater community resource than the local library.  We must continue to support our libraries in order to ensure that our children and future generations have the opportunity to learn and grow, make new discoveries, and achieve their greatest hopes and dreams,” Nozzolio concluded.

New Yorkers United for Better Libraries is a bipartisan group of library leaders from across New York State dedicated to strengthening libraries and the communities they serve.
