chamber120Fred Bonn, director of the Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau, announced Monday the hiring of Kristy Mitchell as Integrated Marketing Manager.

In the newly created position, Mitchell will coordinate the CVB’s marketing efforts in the rapidly evolving world of digital, social and traditional media. She will manage the organization’s websites, print publications, advertising and promotions to maximize the benefits of emerging and converging technology.

“The marketing landscape is witnessing unprecedented change and Kristy’s skillset will keep us at the forefront,” Bonn said. “She has a unique combination of technical expertise, professional enthusiasm and personal passion for the Ithaca area. We’re thrilled to welcome her aboard.”

Mitchell is a 2008 graduate of the Ithaca College/Park School of Communications with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. She comes to the CVB from Noyd Communications in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and has worked as account executive for such global brands as Sanyo, Mitsubishi and VIZIO.

“For me, this is both an exceptional professional opportunity and a long-awaited homecoming,” Mitchell said. “I grew up in the Southern Tier and fell in love with the Ithaca area while attending IC. Now I have the opportunity to showcase Tompkins County and the Finger Lakes Region to potential visitors worldwide. I look forward to working with the tourism community in taking our destination marketing to the next level.”

A division of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and funded through the Tompkins County Tourism Program, the CVB is the official destination marketing organization for Ithaca and Tompkins County. Through its two visitor centers, multiple websites and ongoing marketing efforts, the bureau helps attract more than 840,000 visitors annually, generating local economic impact in excess of $160 million per year. In other CVB news, Bruce Stoff announced his departure from the organization as staff public relations manager. He will remain involved as an offsite contractor for special projects.
