The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, has awarded $2,000 in support of a new district distance learning initiative in the arts during this time of COVID 19 extended school closures.

The Director of Fine and Performing Arts Daphne Shululu notes, "Through a digital time capsule, music work will be captured and shared during the district's distance learning 2.0, enabling virtual musical ensemble performances."

The ICSD Digital Time Capsule will capture the creative and innovative ways Ithaca City School District (ICSD) students and teachers are expressing themselves through the arts during distance learning. The FABG grant will support students and staff making individual recordings that will be synthesized together into full music performances that can shared digitally with audiences and archived in the time capsule.

Shululu explained: "Youth and adults within our community are organically producing music and art now more than ever as a means for creative release and self-expression. The collective effort from the community to persist in music-making, despite limitations, is a perfect example of the healing power of the arts and its ability to surpass all boundaries.  I want to thank the FABG for their support through this grant during this unprecedented time."

Grant funds are made possible through FABG performance booklet advertisement sales and individual donations.
