fw_120Viewers of the Ithaca Community Fireworks will get a special musical treat to go along with this year’s aerial display as all seven (7) of the Cayuga Radio Group’s radio stations will simulcast music to the presentation.  Dubbed the 'American Spirit Soundtrack', it will be a simulcast across all the stations coinciding with the fireworks presentation.

“We want to give our community the audio experience of great 4th of July music to go along with the fireworks,” said Lite Rock 97.3 Brand Manager Dave Ashton.  “It’s totally listener driven, so our community is picking the music, and I am sure it will be a great diverse selection of tunes!”

The montage of music will also include greetings from area military personnel.  “We thought it would be a respectful way to pay tribute to our beloved men and women who have served our country through their military service past and present.” said Cayuga Radio Group Operations Manager and Q Country Morning host Chris Allinger.  “We encourage people to crank up our radio stations during the fireworks.  The fireworks are the “sight” and we will bring the “sound!”

Ashton said the stations are encouraging listeners to text their patriotic music requests starting today text USA and the song title to '77000' from their cell phones.  “We will pick the most popular requests, from any format.  We’re already getting a lot of requests for Kid Rock 'All Summer Long', Bruce Springsteen’s 'Born in the USA', Brooks & Dunn’s 'Only In America', and James Brown’s 'Living in America'.  We’ll put them all together into one great montage to play during the fireworks show.”

The Fireworks are scheduled to start at exactly 9:45pm on Monday July 1, from the Stewart Park/Newman Golf Course area.
