radio1The Cornell Radio Guild has constructed a new facility for their Ithaca based radio station, WVBR 93.5FM. For over a decade WVBR has been located too far from the student body and the heart of Ithaca, but now they are moving to 604 East Buffalo Street to be closer to the listeners, the community and the students.

WVBR has chose Ithaca based Construction Management firm ASI Renovations as the design-builder for the two live studios in the new location: one for WVBR, which broadcasts on 93.5FM and 105.5FM, and the other for CornellRadio.com, an online-only station also owned and operated by the Cornell Radio Guild.

Herb Dwyer, CEO of ASI Renovations said about the project, “We are excited to be involved and able to contribute to this historic move.” The new radio station headquarters will be open to the public and features an extensive vinyl library. CornellRadio.com will also be re-launched after the new station is up and running.

The construction and relocation of the studio was funded through donations, and more information can be found at wvbr.com/capitalcampaign.

Drew Endick, WVBR’s General Manager remarked, “We could not complete this project without support from our community. This relocation is a huge stepping stone for the radio station in terms of making multi-media, multi-faceted content. Our new location is closer to the downtown area, as well as Collegetown, making the site a perfect representation of who we are as a station – run by students, and serving the community at large.”
