Lansing Fire District elections are scheduled for this Tuesday, December 13. Two seats are up for election, each with one candidate running unopposed. Jeff Walters is running for the Fire Commissioner seat being vacated by Steve White. George Gesslein is running for the Treasurer's position held through December 23 by Linda Beckwith.

At last Tuesday's Fire Commissioner's meeting in the Central Station on Ridge Road Mr. White and Ms. Beckwith said their farewells. "I've learned a lot from the firemen I've worked with," said Mr. White, "It's been a real pleasure working with everybody."  Ms. Beckwith noted it was her last meeting and thanked everyone for their support in her job for the District.

Commissioner Dennis Griffin expressed the District's appreciation. "I'd like to thank both of you," he said. "Linda's been here since 1988 and really done a lot for us. And Steve I want to thank you for your years of taking the 'head seat.' Sometimes that's not the easiest spot."

Voting will take place This Tuesday at Station 5 on 119 Oakcrest Rd. and at Lansing Central Station at 80 Ridge Rd.
