tomreed_120Following reports that some Members of Congress are seeking exemption from Obamacare for themselves, Rep. Tom Reed stands in opposition to the exemption, saying lawmakers who helped enact the law must endure its consequences.

“Members of Congress should not be exempt from following the same guidelines all Americans are expected to follow,” Reed said. “What we’re seeing are the same Democrats who voted for Obamacare – those who were vocal about how great the law would be for all Americans – now trying to work their way out of having to comply.”

President Obama already carved out a special loophole to exempt himself, his Cabinet and the Vice President from having to participate in his health care law.

“There is no reason why the federal government should not be obligated to suffer the same implications under Obamacare as the rest of the country’s families and small businesses. We need to shed light on this DC hypocrisy if we have any chance of changing it.”

Since its passage in 2010, the President and Democrat’s health care law has been controversial, with concerns about cost and implementation raised by Republicans and now, an increasing amount of Democrats.

Senate Finance Chairman and Obamacare architect Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) joined the growing chorus of Obamacare warnings, saying he fears a “train wreck” as the Administration implements its health care law.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if more Members join in a call for repeal of the law now that they are trying to escape its consequences,” Reed continued.
