sports bleachers120Two Lansing athletes recently earned important recognition for outstanding high school career achievements.   Senior Shea McCartney won the Van Sickle award for Female Athlete of the year.   Brandon Davis was named Class C All-State in football by the he New York State Sports Writer's Association.  Lansing High School Principal Coleen Lesley reported on the athletes' achievements at last week's Board of Education meeting.

"It will be be sad when Brandon leaves us this year," she said.  "We will also miss Shea McCartney.  Shea focused on the importance of her team."

McCartney was recognized by the Ithaca Journal for her achievements in soccer and basketball.  She scored 99 goals in soccer and scored her 1000th point this season in basketball.  The basketball season is still running.

Davis had over 330 career tackles on the Bobcats football team, 110 of them in his senior year.  He played linebacker for the team.
