football lb 120Led by Coaches John Winslow, Tim Boothe, Jordan Smith with assistance from Jeff Boles, Greg Lee, Peter Walker, Jim Strait and John Sterle, the Lansing Varsity football closed its' season this year in Section 4, Division 5 having competed against Watkins-Glen/Odessa Montour for the Division title.  According to the Ithaca Journal "Junior back Tim Kelley led Lansing with 157 yards on 26 carries and the first four Bobcat touchdowns. Mason Boothe, Lansing's freshman quarterback, was 4-for-12 passing for 58 yards and an interception. Zach Detrick capped the game's scoring with a 5-yard TD run in the fourth."

The highlight of the season was their divisional win against Dryden in early October.  Offensively, Tim Kelley rushed for 107 yards on 27 carries and had 1 reception for 21 yards. Senior captain, Zach Detrick had 10 carries for 87 yards, and one rushing TD.  He also had one reception for an eight yard TD. Combined they rushed for 195 yards, 23 more than the Dryden team. Senior TE, Nate Fleishman had one reception for 10 yards and a huge fourth down conversion that put momentum in Lansing favor. Lansing's offensive line was solid, allowing Mason Boothe to spray the ball across the field, passing for 108 yards while utilizing six different receivers.  Brad Lapar, Zack Walker, and Josh Miller- LaBar each had 1 reception. Lansing had zero fumbles.  Dryden had three and Lansing recovered two.

Lansing's defense held Stu Stahlman of Dryden to only 120 yards.  He averages 135 yards per game. Jared Strait, CB of Lansing and the Defense as a team held Matt McHerron of Dryden to 25 yards receiving.  35 yards below his average.  Dryden only had 35 yards receiving total, 45 below their average receiving yards per game.  Making it difficult for Dryden to pass made them rely too heavily on the run and made them predictable.  This win guaranteed Lansing a spot in the Section IV, Class C crossover game.  Little did the Lansing Seniors realize, this would be their last game on their home field.

The Senior Night and Homecoming non-Divisional game against the now State Class C champion for the third time, Chenango Forks, was cancelled due to player injuries which resulted in not having enough healthy players to compete.  This cancellation unfortunately resulted in having no Homecoming Game or Senior Night for the Class of 2016. For this reason, we would like to acknowledge the Class of 2016 Lansing Varsity football seniors and recognize some of the player accomplishments.

In the words of Coach Winslow "My goal for coaching has always been to teach more than how to block and tackle, to instill core values of responsibility, commitment, respect, and most importantly develop a good work ethic.  Life is full of adversity, hopefully the lessons you have learned on the football field will serve you well."
