Under sunny skies and in front of friends, families, and fans, the Lansing cross country teams celebrated their Senior Night on Wednesday, and then toed the line against Groton, Spencer Van Etten-Candor (SVEC), and Whitney Point for the inaugural races on their new home course located at the Lansing Center Trail.

The combined modified boys and girls ran first, with SVEC's Benjamin Dizer winning overall in a time of 10:10.7.  A pack of Bobcats finished next including Teddy Brenner, Caden Michalec, and Sam Bell.  While two more SVEC runners would make their way to fifth and seventh place, their team was incomplete and thus did not factor into team scoring.  Lansing's Charlie Miller and Arjun Kodali rounded out scoring for the Bobcats, for a perfect score of 15 in front of Whitney Point's 47.  Bethany Hicks of Groton was the modified girls winner in a time of 11:08.9 with her teammate, Sam Cargian, finishing in a close second place.

Varsity boys and girls lined up together next, and Groton's Richard Moore was the overall winner of a closely contested team competition on the boys side with a time of 17:33.2.  His teammate, Robert Brehm, placed third while SVEC's Calum Avery and Levi Mickelson took second and fourth place, respectfully.  Lansing's Sean Ross and Liam Hulsebosch worked together throughout the race to secure fifth and sixth place.

This meet was on the heels of an exciting morning of racing in Rochester at the McQuaid Invitational on October 1.  Nearly all Lansing runners raced to personal bests, and Lansing girls improved from a 23rd place as a team to securing 8th at this year's race.  Complete results of the historic McQuaid Invitational can be found online.

The teams will not be racing this weekend and instead will host the Youth XC Series at Lansing on Saturday, October 8.  More information can be found on the Lansing Recreation Department Web site.
