Girls Track Team:

The Lansing Girls team ended the season undefeated in the IAC. They are the 2006 Division 3
Champions, IAC Champions, and Section 4 Class C Champions. Their Division 3 title makes this season the 10th consecutive season that the Lansing Girls program has earned this honor. There were five school records broken this season: Ryann Cretney in the 1500m (4:48.54), Caitlin Wright in the 400m Hurdles (1:04.6) Long Jump (16’ 6 ½”) and Pentathlon (2686 points), and Kiki Gifft & Carol Melice in the Pole Vault Relay (20’ 6”).

Seven Girls qualified and competed in the New York State and Federation Championships. Sophmore Carol Melice (Pole Vault 1st in Division 2, 5th in the Federation), Senior Kiki Gifft (Pole Vault 2nd in Division 2, 7th in the Federation), Senior Caitlin Wright (400m Hurdles 8th in Division 2), Sophmore Ryann Cretney (1500m 4th in Division 2), 3200m Relay team consisting of Ryann Cretney (10), Caitlin Wright (12), Christine Fuchs (10), Kylee Jordan (11) and Alternate Natalie Usack (11) finished 5th in Division 2. Division 2 competitors are from public high schools from all sections in New York State with enrollment of 599 students or less. Federation awards include all public and private high schools from all sections in New York State.

Senior Caitlin Wright earned the Team MVP award.
Senior Kiki Gifft earned the Team Coaches award.

Boys Track Team:

The Lansing Boys Track team finished the season undefeated in the Division, earning them Division 3 honors. They finished 2nd overall in the IAC, and are the Section 4 Class C Champions. Seven School Records were broken this season: Rusty Landon in the 110m Hurdles (15.4 sec.) and tied the 400m Dash record (50.2 sec), Andy Lockwood in the Shot Put (50’ 6 ½”) and Discus (155’ 9”), Jeremy Petak and Patrick Sweazey in the Pole Vault Relay (22’ 6”), Andy Lockwood and Matt Hartz in the Shot Put Relay ( 91’ 8 ½”), and Andy Lockwood and Justin Reakes in the Discus Relay ( 251’ 9” ).

One boy qualified for the NYS and Federation Championships. Junior Andy Lockwood qualified and competed in the Discus. He placed 3rd in Division 2 and 6th in the Federation. Division 2 competitors are from public high schools from all sections in New York State with enrollment of 599 students or less. Federation awards include all public and private high schools from all sections in New York State.

Junior Rusty Landon earned the Team MVP Award
Senior Phil Abbott earned the Team Coaches Award.
