The Lansing Varsity Softball team has been very busy since Saturday April 28th.  Saturday morning the team left early and traveled to Herkimer, NY to play in the Mudville Tournament.  In our first game we played White Plains, which is a AA school.  We played a great five inning game but ended up losing 4-3.

In the second game we went up again another AA school, Walton, from the Bronx in New York City.  The Ladycats won 7-6 with doubles from Brittany French, Cassandra Smith, Katie Fenner,  two by Kaycee Nedrow, and one by Breanne Nichols.  Jocelyn Ford had two triples and Cassandra Smith homered for the Ladycats.  This was an awesome experience for everyone involved.

Monday Lansing played at home versus Groton.  The final score was Lansing 9 Groton 13.  Big hits came from Ford, Nichols, and Smith.  The following day we traveled to Groton where the final score was Lansing 12 Groton 9.  This game was an amazing turn around game for the girls after losing the day before.  We began the game with a solo home run from Brittany French, Cassandra Smith also homered in the first inning.  Katie Fenner had a home run in the second inning.  There was an amazing team effort to win this game.

To round out the week Lansing played a double header against Southern Cayuga.  The ladies took a tough loss in the first game with a score of 21-9.  However the team bounced back to beat the Chiefs 7-4 in the second game with a two run home run by Kaycee Nedrow.
