Cortland – For the 13th year, SUNY Cortland’s Stadium Complex will be the site of the 2007 High School Girls State Lacrosse Championship tournament. Twelve teams from across New York State will vie for state titles in three classes. Beginning with semifinal matches on Friday, June 8th, the tournament will conclude on Saturday, June 9th with the championship matches.

“Girl’s Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. We are pleased to be able to have another championship caliber event held in Cortland” remarked Joe Reagan, chair of the Cortland Regional Sports Council.


The Cortland Regional Sports Council helps to sponsor the tournament and the Championship banquet which kicks off the tournament weekend on Thursday, June 7th at SUNY Cortland’s Corey Union.

“Our local hotels, restaurants and stores will enjoy business from teams, parents, officials and fans” said Sports Council Executive Director Machell Phelps. “This is exactly the kind of event we want to draw to the Cortland community.”

While there are no local teams competing, there are three representatives in the tournament from Section 3 – West Genesee – Class A, Carthage – Class B and Skaneateles – Class C.
