"The boys did play up to their potential but had to overcome a strong Trumansburg team who played a very good game," says Varsity Boys Soccer coach Adam Heck. Even so, Lansing beat Trumansburg 1-0 playing in Trumansburg last Thursday (9/22).

Then on Wednesday (9/28) Lansing trounced Newark Valley in a 9-0 game. This was Lansing's ninth win of the season, and with one tie and zero losses the team is ranked number two in New York State.

Lansing's success last year and it's continuing success this year motivates other teams to play harder. "I think we have to remember we have a bulls-eye on our chest and teams are really coming at us," says Coach Heck.

In the Trumansburg game Jayson Weidman scored the goal for Lansing and Lucas Heffron had the assist. Treyos Barresi had 4 saves in the game. Coach Heck reports, "The defense was solid allowing only 7 shots."

The fierce competition will also motivate the Lansing team, which hopes to go to State for the second year in a row. It must have done so as they shut out Newark Valley in Wednesday's game. Walker Diebolt scored three goals, Tom Kraft two, and Lucas
Heffron one goal and three assists. Devin Grant-Keane, Jayson Weidman and Adam Hardie each scored one goal one assist . Josh Tanzola, Nick Mallinson, and Ryan Mallinson gave one assist each. Trey Barresi had three saves for a shut-out.

Coach Heck says, "Great play by all players after a bit of a slow start." The soccer team is on a roll.
