8th grader Hannah Shea placed 2nd for the girls in the modified race in a time of 12:23
Lansing's  Cross Country team ran with the masses at the McQuaid Invitation on Saturday with over seven thousand runners and 230 schools from the northeast. The boy's team outscored Marathon, Groton, Candor and Watkins Glen with teammates Josh Barber and Jon Cleveland running personal bests for the season with 16:39 and 16:42 respectively on the 3.0 mile course. Shanna Swanson and Neila Thomas placed 80th and 112_ for the girls and also ran personas best times.

At their home meet on the following Tuesday the team recognized seniors Tim Shea and Michael Monacelli who have both run for Lansing cross country and track and field. Shea plans to continue his education at Clarkson or Norwich as an ornithoper and Monacelli plans to attend Colorado State in business administration. Both runners showed their appreciation for their coaches and parents.

In the race, Jon Cleveland led the entire way until the last 100 meters where he was over taken by Mikhail Kern from Groton at the finish. Barber placed 3rd and Tim Shea, Robin Hicks and Dan Comisi finished in the top ten. Lansing scored 31 against Groton's 36 and Marthon's 67 point totals. Modified runner Hannah Shea ran a strong 12:23 and is looking forward to improving her time even more in the next few meets.

The Lansing course is one of the most difficult courses in the area with constant changes in elevation the course measures 3.1 miles and loops around the campus which is wonderful for spectators.

The Bobcats travel to Groton's Stonehedge's Golf Course on Tuesday, October 7 for Divisional II Championships where they will race Moravia, T-Burg, Marathon, Southern Springs. Jr. High races begin at 4:30 followed by varsity at 5:00.
