The Tompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA) 8U team played in the Oswego Power Girls Tournament on January 31-February 2, 2015. The girls played 2 games on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday morning to make it to the Championship Game on Sunday. They played a hard-fought game against Oswego in the Finals, losing 6-4. This was the first tournament play for most of the girls, ages 6-8 years old.

Gansevoort, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill sophomore Alex Steelman, Ithaca, N.Y., Lansing High School, has been named the league’s Female Swimmer-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday January 25. This marks the fourth-time in her career the Ithaca, N.Y. native has been honored by the NEAC with Female Swimmer-of-the-Week honors.
Two Lansing athletes recently earned important recognition for outstanding high school career achievements. Senior Shea McCartney won the Van Sickle award for Female Athlete of the year. Brandon Davis was named Class C All-State in football by the he New York State Sports Writer's Association. Lansing High School Principal Coleen Lesley reported on the athletes' achievements at last week's Board of Education meeting.
One day after Christmas the Lansing Athletic Hall of Fame held its 16th induction ceremony, inducting six individuals and two teams. The banquet attracted the largest crowd, 116 people, in the Hall of Fame's history. The ceremony also recognized the largest number of new inductees since the original ceremony in 1988.
The Lansing Varsity Wrestling team took to the mats this past weekend at the Fourth Annual Groton Holiday Duals Tournament to test their skills against five other local schools. The Bobcat grapplers took the mat five times in the duals format and came away with an overall victorious team records of 3-2. It was an exciting day as the team began the tourney with a win over Marathon. They continued their run with impressive victories over Groton and Southern Cayuga to finish out the morning session. The afternoon proved more challenging for the Bobs as they registered their first loss of the day to overall tournament winner and undefeated, Cazenovia. The final dual brought with it some hard fought matches, and ended with a close loss to Moravia.
Winter programs are gearing up for January at the Lansing Recreation Department. Recreation Director Steve Colt says there is a lineup of travel basketball, second and third grade basketball, a new gymnastics session, an oil painting session, and after school skating at The RINK for grades 3 through 8.
On Tuesday the boys varsity basketball team opened league play with a 55-52 win over Union Springs. Lansing was led by Zach Detrick with 21 point and then Nate Bandler and Josh Miller-Labar with 10 each. 

Tompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA) announced Wednesday it will host the 16th Annual Shooting Stars Tournament this upcoming weekend December 5 - 7th. The action starts Friday December 5th at Cass Park at 5:15pm between the CNY Bobcats 16U and Webster Cyclones 16U.

Lansing defeated Immaculate Heart Central High School (IHSC) Saturday. The first half was back and forth and I thought Bryce had some good saves to keep the score 1-1. They have some very good dynamic players who put good pressure on us in the first half.
