The Lansing Baseball team improved their record to 17-0 following wins over Divisional rivals Trumansburg and Dryden. At Trumansburg the Bobcats won 19-5 behind the four hit pitching of Sean Streb who benefited from a solid 15 hit attack. Streb aided his own cause going 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's, while Benji Parkes was 3 for 6 with 3 doubles and 5 RBI's.The big hit of the game came in the first inning as Kevin Howell hit a grand slam home run to extend the lead to 6-0 essentially putting the game out of reach. Ellington Hopkins also was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.




The Lansing Bobcat Tennis Team continued it's stellar season with three wins this week tying the school record, set last year, of 10 match wins in a single season. Leading the way for the Bobcats at the top of the lineup were numbers 1 & 2 singles players Keenan Hughes and Andy Parkes who went through their three matches without dropping a game. Adding to the mix at number 4 singles Jonathan Sun also went through the week without dropping a single game in a combined six sets of play.
In 2011, a tradition was started by the Student Council Organizations of both Lansing and Trumansburg. A dodgeball tournament, or Brawl for the Ball, would occur every year, with each school alternating as hosts. Last year, with the event being in Trumansburg, Lansing suffered a close defeat in the finals.
The Varsity Baseball has started the 2012 season with a 3-0 record. On opening day the Bobcats defeated Trumansburg 6-3 with senior Benji Parkes getting the win on the mound, with relief help from Sean Streb and Ellington Hopkins. Parkes aided his own cause with a three run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Wednesday's Planning and Engineering Department report to the Lansing Town Board ended more spirited than usual, culminating in thunderous applause.
The Tompkins Girls Hockey travel teams ended their seasons this past weekend at state championship tournaments in Potsdam and Amherst. The 19U Ithaca Shooting Stars traveled to Potsdam and advanced to the finals after a shootout in the semi-final match against the Lysander Lightning.
At the Section 4 State Qualifier at Cornell University on Friday February 17th, Lansing qualified pole vaulters Senior Max Rogan and Sophomore Dylan Bland for the state championships. Rogan won the event with a clearance of 14 feet, and Bland placed second at 12-6.
Your Lansing Wrestling Team capped off the 2011-2012 season with a second place finish in the State Wrestling Tournament!
The I.Y.H.A. Pee Wee 2 team played its last two regular season games this weekend against Oswego and Skaneateles, with a chance of locking up second place in the Blue division of the Snowbelt hockey league.
