The Lansing Varsity Volleyball team finished its regular season with wins over Union Springs, Waverly, and Newfield. All five seniors played well in their last home match, winning 3-0 over Union Springs on October 17th (25-11, 25-6, and 25-11). Ashley Schuster treated the crowd to jump serves, resulting in 9 aces. Lori McKane delivered dependable digs on the back court, and Brittany Wilcox contributed digs and 2 kills. Both Brooke Burke and Desi Burke continued their season-long steady combination of offense and defense: Brooke had 5 kills and 11 digs, Desi 7 assists and 6 digs.




Lansing took the high score when it beat Southern Cayuga 96-71 in a home meet Tuesday. Lansing took first place in all but two events in the meet. It would have taken one of those firsts according to coach Diane Hicks-Hughes. "Chelsea Tucker actually won the 100 back but Lansing went exhibition to keep the score down," she says.
The Lansing Girls Varsity Soccer Team did it again last saturday. They won their third straight IAC Championship with their third win of the year over Division I rival Dryden 5-2.
The Boys Cross Country team lost by two points to T-burg in one of the closest races of the season at their Divisional Meet in Groton on Tuesday. The Bobcats also faced Southern Springs and Moravia. An amazing effort was put forth by Jon Cleveland, placing 3rd, Josh Barber, Tim Shea, Robin Hicks and Dan Comisi. Cleveland was named First Team All Star and Barber, Shea and Hicks were Second Team All Stars. Alex Rogers ran a personal best time of 21:41 as did Comisi (18:44) and Hicks (18:32).
Lansing's Varsity Girls Soccer team is having a great season. "They know it's not going to be easy," says coach LaMarr Peters. "They are gifted in their minds as well as in their bodies. Overall I think they are fantastic spirit beings, and they're open to being taught. That's a unique group. There is something about Lansing that has allowed this group to be."
The Lansing Bobcats lost a tough game last Friday night to their arch rivals the Trumansburg Blue Raiders, 20 to 14. The turning point in the game came midway through the second quarter with no score and Trumansburg facing a 4th and 10 from their 42 yard line. From punt formation the Blue Raiders mishandled the snap, but were able to pick it up, elude would be Bobcat tacklers and race 56 yards to the Bobcat two yard line where Jake Whiting was able to push the punter out of bounds.
