sc sign175The Sciencenter's winter exhibition, 'TreeHouses' opens Saturday, January 10.  Produced by the Environmental Exhibit Collaborative (ECC) with support from Jane's Trust, the Cabot Family Charitable Trust, and the Institute for Museum and Library Services, 'TreeHouses' includes fun, hands-on ways to explore the important roles that trees play in providing homes to animals. Incorporating all of the senses, this exhibit engages forest explorers of all ages in indoor nature explorations and the ecology of sustainable harvesting of this important natural resource

Guests will become animal trackers to find out who actually lives in trees, look for clues and investigate signs of animal tree dwellers as they explore an indoor tree house. They can also listen for animals inside the trees and try to guess their sounds on the animal dance floor, become foresters and learn how to harvest trees without harming the wildlife, and peek in to the hidden tree homes of animals.

The Environmental Exhibit Collaborative consists of EcoTarium, Worcester, MA; ECHO at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, Burlington, VT; and the Children's Museum of Maine, Portland, ME.
