iybThe Friends of the Ithaca Youth Bureau (FIYB) announced Monday that it has received a $1,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant.  FIYB's’s mission is closely aligned with CVS Caremark All Kids Can, the company’s signature philanthropic program committed to helping children of all abilities be the best that they can be in life.  The grant from CVS Caremark will allow children with disabilities to participate fully in the summer camp program operated each year by the Ithaca Youth Bureau (IYB) in Stewart Park and Cass Park.

The funds will support the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s RSS Camp Inclusion Program, which utilizes recreation to promote independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Each child is matched with a trained inclusion specialist. The program is structured to work with the family as well as the camper, with IYB staff in constant communication with family members to make sure the children are thriving in the camp setting and family members are informed regarding the care each camper is receiving.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of CVS Caremark," said Jeff Love, FIYB board chair. "CVS drugstores are strong partners in our Ithaca community, setting a high standard for community involvement and demonstrating leadership and support for our youth. We are fortunate to have them in our town.”

“The CVS Caremark Community Grants Program supports organizations that truly make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families,” said Kevin Hourican, Senior Vice President, CVS/pharmacy EAST Operations.  “We are so proud of the impact the Ithaca Youth Bureau has made in the community and we look forward to working with them to fulfill their program’s mission.”
