jillbushlogoAfterImage Electrolysis is opening a Lansing office on June 4th.  The practice will be open inside the Styles and Smiles Hair Salon at 3100 N. Triphammer Road.  Electrologist Jill Bush will be there twice a week to help people with unwanted hair.

"I love that I can help women gain self confidence.  I've been through electrolysis myself.  (Unwanted hair) really does make you feel self-conscious and it's something that so many women have to deal with on a daily basis.  Not only does electrolysis free up their time, but it saves them money and gives them a huge boost in their confidence.  it's a very rewarding job to have."

Bush has been practicing for nearly eight years.  She has maintained an office in Cortland that has attracted clients from Cortland, Dryden, Homer, Syracuse, Lansing, Trumansburg, Ithaca, and DeRidder.

She will work in the Lansing office  on Tuesdays and Fridays, and continue to see clients in her Cortland office Mondays and Thursdays.  Styles and Smiles is moving the tanning bed out of the room Bush will practice in, but will continue to perform waxings on the days she is not there.

Bush's Cortland office is upstairs in an old house that holds several practices including massage, skin care, and a psychic.  She says she is excited to have a first floor office that will be easily accessible.

"I get quite a few ladies who come in, two who are in their 90s," she says.  "It is great to be able to offer my services to people who have trouble with stairs."

Bush likes to offer a discreet, calming place for her clients.  Typically clients lie on a table while Bush uses a device to work on one follicle at a time.  The device uses pre-sterilized disposable probes that are inserted into the follicle.  When the probe is placed she steps on a foot pedal that heats the cells to create steam that slowly destroys the follicle.

"You develop a relationship with your clients," she says.  "They don't want to come in just for hair removal.  They want to have that relationship and have somebody to talk to."

Bush says the number of treatments varies due to skin sensitivity, how deep the hair is growing, how they previously removed the hair and other variables.  The Lansing location will be copnvenient for her existing Tompkins County clients, and she hopes to attract new ones.

"I'd always planned to have a second location," she says.  "I decided I didn't want to be in downtown Ithaca.  I thought Lansing would be a great location.  Parking is free.  You don't have to worry about traffic.  It's really a great spot."
