Image(Ithaca, NY) Six members were elected to the Downtown Ithaca Business Improvement District Board of Directors on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. The elections were part of the BID Board’s annual meeting.

Members typically serve a three-year term on the board, which is a quasi-governmental entity charged with overseeing the use of special assessment funds collected within a 22-block area of downtown Ithaca. The BID Board also sets policy for, and has fiduciary responsibility for, the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.

Steve Hugo of Holt Architects, Jeffery Rimland, owner of the Rothschild Building, and Joseph Wetmore of Autumn Leaves Used Books were elected to seats designated for BID property owners. 

Ursula Browning of Viva Taqueria and Cantina, Eldred Harris of Diaspora Gallery and Deirdre Kurzweil of WB&A Market Research were elected to seats designated for tenants of commercial properties within the BID.

All of their terms will begin immediately.   

The Downtown Ithaca Alliance is a New York State chartered 501 (C) 3 not-for-profit corporation, charged with growing, promoting, developing and advocating for the interests of downtown Ithaca.
