Tompkins County Public Library will host a Gallery Night on Friday, February 1 for from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. TCPL will be celebrating the capstone work of 2018 Artist in Community, Frances Gallardo, with an exhibit of the work created during her tenure.

Titled "Terramovil," her work explores elements of movement, passage and transience expressed through a series of lichen-like sculptures with designs composed of hybrid 'micro ecosystems' of buildings and natural organic aerial views.

Gallery Night visitors will also get the chance to meet the 2019 Artist in Community, Scott Hitz.

Other exhibits include "Draw A Line," an exhibit exploring the Mexican-US Border and the winners of the 31st Annual Human Rights Arts Competition (K-12 grade), and collaborative art creation with the Open Art Hive.

The trio of Abbe Lyons (guitar and vocals), Sharon Beltaine (percussion), and Juliette Ramírez Corazón (vocals) will be performing Nueva Canción music, a musical genre and movement that animated and inspired social justice movements throughout Latin America since the 1950s. Mijail Martinez will be performing a mix of Flamenco, Ranchera, and American folk styles in Spanish and English, among other languages, also featuring original songs.
