INDICATE:  We at the Institute for the Linguistically Impaired often wonder why so few say, state, assert, or claim anything anymore. 

One evening, over a flagon or two in the Fowler Lounge, nurse Clara Dix even ventured that indicate might indicate a growing national spinelessness.  A wussword, she called it, like using passive verbs.

Board Member Emeritus Alfred Kahn happened to be visiting, after a long delay.  (He had had passport problems at the airport, Ithaca NY and Underbelly TX being so foreign to each other.)

Over his schooner of sarsaparilla, he said,
