ImageITHACA, NY: The Kitchen Theatre Company's KITCHEN COUNTER CULTURE series, featuring cutting-edge, outside-the-box work by guest artists from around the country, continues in November with a political satire by virtuosic New York City actor Darian Dauchan. Dauchan will perform Media Madness for three performances only: November 16, 17, and 18. All performances will be followed by a talkback with the artist.

What happens when a local reporter in a plain-Jane ordinary American small town uncovers the political shennagans of a greedy mayor, unsavory businessman, wannabe pop-star and more? Join in the laughter of MEDIA MADNESS when writer/performer Darian Dauchan portrays a gaggle of more than a dozen characters in this fictional story of the runaway press.
Augmented by news footage, commercials, and campaign ads projected on multiple screens, Dachuan takes us on a wild media circus ride. Media Madness is Dachaun's latest piece. It has had a roundtable reading at the Lark, a workshop production at the Stella Adler Studio, and was included in Studio 42's Scattered Festival of New Works. The Kitchen Theatre is pleased to be presenting the first full production of this piece. Media Madness will be directed by Margarett Perry.

Darian Dauchan, an accomplished New York City based solo performer and actor, has appeared on Broadway (Twentieth Century starring Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche) and Off Broadway theatre (Jean Cocteau Rep., Classical Theatre of Harlem). His first solo piece, Fallen Patriots, which chronicles the life of three African American Soldiers during three of America's biggest wars, was seen at the Access Theatre, New York International Fringe Festival (produced by Real Theatre Works), and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

His second solo effort, entitled Entertainers Eulogy, about African Americans in the entertainment industry, has had workshops and readings with the Roundabout Theatre Company, Classical Theatre of Harlem, Lark Play Development Center, New Perspective Theatre, and the Real TheatreWorks' Fresh Voices Festival. Darian has also embraced the art of Spoken Word, and has won slams at all three major poetry venues in New York City-the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, and Bar 13. In addition, he is a member of the Nuyorican Poetry Slam Team, which ranked 13th in the nation at the 2006 National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas, and he was crowned the Grand Slam Champion for the Urbana Slam Team which ranked 6th in the nation at the 2007 National Poetry Slam.
