ImageSingle tickets to all 2009 Hangar Theatre performances will go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 1 at 10 a.m.  The Mainstage season opens with Dirty Blonde, a jubilant, warm-hearted comedy with music that explores the life story of the American icon Mae West as related by two of her most adoring fans and unlikely lovers. Tony award nominee Emily Skinner will star in this regional premiere directed by Hangar Theatre artistic director Peter Flynn.

Then, from June 18 to July 4, the lyrical Caribbean musical Once on This Island will captivate and charm the entire family. Young love sought and lost, fanciful story-telling, and inspired song and dance make this a theatre experience not to be missed.

November is an irreverent, hilarious comedy by one of America’s best playwrights, Pulitzer Prize-winner David Mamet.  It’s only a few days before the election and President Charles Smith needs to raise one million dollars to ensure his re-election.

Broadway actor Wally Dunn (Spamalot, Gypsy, One Mo’ Time) stars in this comedy which runs July 8-18.

Beginning July 22, the Hangar will present the passionate drama Betrayal by Tony Award-winning playwright and Nobel laureate Harold Pinter.  Betrayal is a tale about unraveling friendship, duplicitous love, and the inescapable power of attraction. Compelling, surprising, and highly imaginative, it’s easy to understand why this is one of Harold Pinter’s most popular plays.

Completing the Hangar’s 2009 Mainstage season is a surprise Broadway musical whose title will be announced April 28.  This bohemian rock blockbuster will run August 6-22.

There is something for everyone with Kiddstuff, a full season of plays and musicals for young audiences.  The shows that make up this season are Really Rosie (June 10-13), Snow White (June 25-27, July 2-4), Busytown ( July 15-18), The Adventures of a Bear Called Paddington (July 29-August 1), and the Mystery of Edwin Drood (August 13-15).
