nolabelsNo Labels brought together more than 40 Republicans and Democrats Thursday with a message to congressional leadership and President Obama: Stop fighting and start fixing! The group, nearly evenly divided between members of both parties, stood in solidarity to urge all leaders to find a way to work together to end the fiscal crisis.

The bipartisan group included several dozen members of the No Labels Problem Solvers, a coalition of Democrats and Republicans committed to working across the aisle to find solutions to the nation's problems, as well as other like-minded lawmakers of both parties. The group, which assembled in the caucus room of the Cannon House office building, agrees that it is incumbent on leaders on both sides of the debate to make sure the nation does not default on its debt. The lawmakers implored leaders to recognize that saving the country is more important than saving face, and that they need to do whatever it takes to break the deadlock.

"The No Labels Problem Solvers and other members of Congress you see here today are ready to work together and support our respective leaderships in a bipartisan solution to the government shutdown and other crucial issues facing our country," said Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR). "Let's show some courage and work together like the American people expect and deserve."

Said Rep. Reid Ribble (R-WI): "Our nation faces serious challenges right now, and there are even more problems looming on the horizon. In order to meet those challenges, we need to work together. The American people sent us here to improve their lives, not to just score political points. Those of us who are here today are working to do that, during this crisis and for the challenges ahead."
