ImageThe H1N1 Flu Clinic occurred today in the Lansing Central School District with over 506 children being vaccinated.

Everything flowed efficiently and we ended earlier than anticipated.

Written notification sent home in advance ensured excellent communication to parents regarding expectations and information.  All of these documents are located on the school district Web site .

We also utilized our website to communicate any changes in information and to act as a place to house information and importat documents, such as a consent form, for easy access.

This morning when I found that we would have more than enough doses for our school aged children, I alerted local preschools, pediatric offices, the Lansing Town Hall, and the Lansing Community Library that Lansing School District residents with pre-school age children, 3, 4, or 5, could also bring their children to the school for a vaccination.  This was also posted on our website.

Our principals, nurses, faculty and staff, and the PTSO were outstanding in executing such a complex operation.

I am pleased that the school system could assist the Tompkins County Health Department in ensuring that our students were able to receive this important vaccination and help make our schools and community safer and healthier.

I would like to thank Karen Bishop, Community Health Nurse Supervisor, from the Health Department for facilitating such a great process and providing excellent communication during the planning and implementation phases of the operation.
