All four age levels of the annual Ithaca Shooting Stars Invitational girls ice hockey tournament this weekend featured close games for the semi-finals and finals. The Ithaca 19U Shooting Stars won the championship game Sunday over the Tri-County Eagles 2-1 after defeating Mohawk Valley Herricanes 4-2 in the crossover game Saturday. The Eagles won 3-1 over the Adirondack Northstars to advance.

Sarah Eisenhut stopped 28 shots on goal in the 19U Championship game. Katilyn Ryan scored the first goal assisted by Gabe Klick. Katie Long scored the game-winner assisted by Emily Eisenhut. Tri-County's Kim Hunt scored assisted by her sister Chelsea.

At the 12U level, Camillus Cougars' Amanda Lupo made 17 saves in her team's 3-2 win over the West Seneca Wings. Casey McGuirk scored two goals and Abby Cowburn one. West Seneca's Kristen Sikorski had one goal and one assist. Camillus defeated Binghamton Blizzard and West Seneca beat Ithaca in the semi-finals.

Shots on goal were equal between the 14U finalists Adirondack Northstars and Hamburg Hawks, but the girls from Glens Falls were victorious 3-0. Morgan Cahill, Lindsey Sabo, and Julie Derue scored the goals. Hamburg advanced after defeating the Ithaca 14U Shooting Stars in the semi-final round 2-1 during the Overtime period. Serena Mendola scored the goal for Ithaca assisted by Jackie Cornell and Carrie Wilder. Angela Everhart stopped over 30 shots on goal.

In the 16U age division, the Nepean Wildcats from near Ottawa edged the Troy Albany Ice Cats after two overtime periods and a shootout, 3-2. Sarah Spence scored the tie-breaking goal as well as one of the Nepean goals in regulation. Troy's Melissa Sheelan and Stephanie Wyld scored. Nepean advanced to the championship game by defeating Syracuse Stars II in a shootout as well. Kate Storen scored the only goal of that game to determine which team would advance.

Ithaca 13U's two games on Friday were reported in Saturday's paper, but goalie Alex Stagliano's name was misspelled. On Saturday, goalie Sophia Hunt stopped 17 shots in a 7-0 loss to West Seneca. Molly Sikorski scored twice and had one assist.

Angela Everhart of the 14Us made 42 saves in the 2-1 loss to eventual champion Adirondack Northstars. Catherine Watkins scored assisted by Hannah Golay and Marissa Ramos.

The Ithaca 19U's second win was 1-0 over the Northstars 19U team. Long scored assisted by Samantha Craig. She scored two goals in their win Saturday night over the Mohawk Valley 19Us. Other goal scorers were E. Eisenhut and Klick. Janesa Cornish, Erin Grainger, and Lauren Cole recorded assists. Jones stopped 21 shots in the win. Other team members of the 19U championship squad include Kendall Brug, Melissa Ash, Kathryn Luschwitz, Annabelle Jones, Kaitlin MacLean and Emma Hassen.

In the Ithaca 13U 8-0 loss to the Camillus Cougars, Sophia Hunt made 25 saves. They also faced the Troy Albany Ice Cats and came out on top 2-1. Alex Stagliano made 16 saves in the victory. Goals were scored by Rachel Brock and Bridget Derraugh. The team advances to the crossover/semi-final game on Saturday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. at Cass Park.

In the Ithaca 19U 6-0 win, Annabelle Jones stopped 16 shots in the shutout win. Lauren Cole had a hat trick while Emily Eisenhut had two goals and one assist. Janesa Cornish scored one and had one helper. Later Ithaca 19Us defeated Adirondack 19U 1-0 with Sarah Eisenhut recording the shutout in goal stopping 16 shots. The winning goal was scored by Katie Long assisted by Samantha Craig. The team advances to the crossover/semifinal game at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at The RINK.

In the Ithaca 14U 6-0 win, Angela Everhart made 24 saves in the shutout win. Jackie Cornell scored two goals. Carrie Wilder had one goal and two assists. Charlotte Stevens, Meredith Kirk and Krystalyn Yonkin each scored one goal.
