Deputies recently charged three subjects for allegedly making 16 prank phone calls to the Tompkins County 911 Center over a three-day period. Out of these calls, the following incidences led to arrests:

It is alleged that on 02-10-07, at approximately 10:08 AM, Corey J. Bruneau, age 17, of 584 Lansingville Road, called the 911 Center and reported that he was Osama Bin Laden and needed to speak with the police. He allegedly called again at 10:15 AM and reported that he had gotten his penis stuck in a shampoo bottle while masturbating and needed the police to respond to a fake address.

It is further alleged, that on 02-10-07, at approximately 11:30 PM, Falicia Singer, age 17, of 572 Warren Road, called the 911 Center and reported that someone was in the process of breaking into her apartment while she hid underneath her bed, and then added that the intruder had actually made entry inside her apartment. The defendant provided an address other than her own in an actual apartment complex. Believing that the call was factual, several deputies responded to the apartment complex under emergency circumstances and canvassed several inhabitants. A female juvenile was also charged for particapating with Singer in this incident.

On 02-11-07, at 1:06 PM, Singer allegedly made another call during which she stated that a local daycare facility was experiencing a robbery in progress. This complaint was also found to be unfounded.

Subsequent to police investigation, both Bruneau and Singer were charged with two counts each of Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd, Class A Misdemeanors. The aforementioned juvenile was charged similarly with one count. Both Bruneau and Singer were released on Appearance Tickets ordering them to appear in the Town of Lansing Court on 03-08-07 at 7:00 PM.

The Sheriff's Office handles false reports very seriously and investigates all incidences aggressively and thoroughly. Not only do such reports often place emergency responders in danger, but they circumvent emergency call takers and responders from assisting and responding to legitimate calls for service.
